Despite improved performance of materials used over the years, all tarps and covers share one commonality: They are exposed to harsh environmental conditions and intended for use over long periods of time. For these reasons, tarp materials are susceptible to rips, tears, holes, and damage. When this damage occurs, the simplest and most effective repair method is to mend these areas with adhesive tape that will offer a permanent seal, extending the life and longevity of the tarp.

Using tape for tarp repair is extremely common and relatively easy. However, not all tapes are suitable for the job.

For example, many people use duct tape for their repairs. While duct tape can hold up for a short period of time, it is not the best solution for long-term repair. Standard duct tape is composed of an adhesive mated to a polyethylene film which is not stable under Ultra Violet (UV) light. The polyethylene film will quickly degrade when exposed to sunlight. The exposure to UV turns the film dusty/chalky, exposing the threads and adhesive. When this occurs, the duct tape loses its ability to be “waterproof.” What is needed is an industrial-grade solution that is UV stable and designed for waterproofing, with an aggressive adhesive that will stay bonded permanently.

Why 4EvaSeal Is Your Best Option

4EvaSeal waterproofing tapes are one-step, easy-to-use products available with strong UV-resistant backing. These tapes have the most aggressive elastomeric polymer adhesive on the market today. Once installed, they are impermeable to water and offer protection against extreme and prolonged environmental conditions. The elastomeric polymer adhesive is pressure sensitive and bonds permanently to most tarps and covers. 4EvaSeal provides a permanent waterproof bond when installed correctly. Furthermore, the backing is a heavy-duty 8 mil film that is tough, durable, flexible, and UV stable.

Prepare the Surface Before the Application

Surface preparation is an important factor when installing an adhesive solution. For optimal performance, ensure the tarp material is clean and dry and absent of contaminants. Utilize a roller to press the tape firmly into position and prevent wrinkling.

When dealing with harsh environmental conditions, finding the right adhesive tape will strongly contribute to the extended life of the tarp or cover. The preferred tape with an aggressive adhesive, UV-resistant backing, and a waterproof bond will far exceed the performance of standard tapes on the market today.
